The Wadesboro Police Department has identified the person responsible for yesterday's school lockdown. WPD was able to confirm that the threats were made with no intentions of being carried out. The defendant is a juvenile therefore no details will be released as to their identity. Juvenile petitions will be filed by WPD charging the offender with North Carolina General Statute 14-277.6. Communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property. This offense is a class H felony. The Wadesboro Police Department would like to thank the Anson County School System, the Anson County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for their assistance in responding to and investigating this incident.
